Virtual Breakfast Series—Balancing a Legacy Family Business and a Next Gen's New Venture

Thursday, January 18, 2024 (8:00 AM - 10:00 AM) (CST)

Description

Family businesses are loyal to the product that they were founded on. But, when you get multiple generations down the family tree, there's not always room in the business or interest in the roles available for upcoming generations. Is it possible to branch out and create a new venture that's different than your existing legacy business? Matthew Cathy has done just that.

We welcome Matthew to the virtual stage on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 8 a.m. CST, to share his experience growing up in the famous family of Chick-fil-A and now leading his own venture, Clayton Fixture, which creates cabinets and fixtures for the restaurant industry.

More About Matthew
As Co-Owner of Clayton Fixture (CFX) and Ambassador for Chick-fil-A, Matthew is a passionate leader, helping develop people, places, and products that inspire and make a difference. The past year has been a challenging but rewarding year for Matthew and CFX. CFX’s mission statement is: “Clayton Fixture exists to serve God, our team members, and customers, through our commitment to providing solution-oriented products and services with our state-of-the-art facility and team of dedicated people.”

As a member of the third generation of the Cathy family of Chick-fil-A, Matthew is dedicated to serving the family enterprise, internationally known for its culture of care.  Over the past two years, Matthew has been focused on adding value to Chick-fil-A through Ambassador opportunities. Matthew is involved with WinShape Foster Care because he is passionate about providing children with safe and stable homes. In 2022, he participated in the first year of “Hospitality Week” in Georgia, and with a donation through the CFA donation committee, he was able to put a $20 CFA gift card into the hands of 2,513 DFCS workers, expressing and elevating the work they do.

Matthew and his wife, Grayson, reside in Jonesboro, Georgia, with their dog, Bear. When he isn’t throwing the ball with Bear, Matthew enjoys jumping out of airplanes.
