Pete Brownell, a third-generation leader of Brownells, a family-owned Iowa business with deep roots in the firearms and gunsmithing industry.

Founded in 1939 by Pete’s grandfather, Brownells grew from a small gunsmithing operation into a nationally and internationally recognized business serving firearm owners, gunsmiths, and the broader shooting industry. Today, the company offers thousands of firearm parts, tools, accessories, ammunition, and related products.

Pete will share the Brownell family story and the lessons learned through generations of growth, leadership, changing markets, and family business transition. We’ll explore what it takes to grow a family business while staying connected to its roots, how family members navigate leadership and ownership, and the challenges and opportunities that come with building a business in a highly specialized and evolving industry.
